I know there’s a lot going on with Covid-19 but I thought it was important to check in and reconnect with my resolution for this year. These are unprecedented times for everyone but this should not be an excuse to skip what we promised to ourselves 3 months ago.

We can’t deny these challenging times are reshaping the world where we live. On the other hand, challenges will always exist and it’s our response to those what matters. Our adjustments. Our journey. So, I thought it would be good to remind myself what I said and where I am.

Read One Book A Month

I started this year reading Why We Sleep (Matthew Walker – 360 pages) and Cross Stitch (Diana Gabaldon – 864 pages). Currently, I’m reading Dragonfly In Amber (Diana Gabaldon – 756 pages). Even though I won’t be able to finish my current book in the next couple of days, I believe I’m still on track as my 4th book of the year will be slightly shorter and that will give me enough time to catch up in April. Not every book needs to be 800 pages and it’s alright to be flexible with our choices!

Write One New Blog Article A Week

I started the year quite strong by publishing 5 articles in January. However, just one in February as I wanted to have a break to focus on my wedding and honeymoon. In March I managed to publish 4 articles. Have I published an article every week? No and it’s OK. The weekly target is just to push myself but if I don’t make it it’s important to keep trying the following week.

Work Out 5 Days A Week

Absolutely. This is part of my routine now as it’s something I’ve been doing for years. I enjoy very much to do HIIIT at home or anywhere I am in the world.

Discover 6 New Countries

My new countries were all part of our honeymoon: Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, St Thomas (USVI), St Maarten, St Kitts, Dominica, Barbados. I’m glad I was able to see all these places as due to the travel restrictions in place I won’t be travelling for a while. And you should not either! Let’s stay safe and follow the WHO recommendations.

Donate And Pick Up A Charity

Early in January I was devastated by the Australian bushfires. Countless animals lost their lives, their homes and their food sources. There was a massive need to stop the fires, curbing the damage caused, and restoring the forests eventually. I picked up 2 charities to help. I donated to the World Wide Fund for Nature Australia and to WIRES Australian Wildlife Rescue. Currently I’m collecting old clothes, books and more stuff for the British Heart Foundation. I’m on a mission and this is one of the most important objectives not just for 2020 but for life.

Environmental Awareness

Climate change is a big deal. This is a sensitive topic for everyone and I don’t want to get started on this discussion as typically ends up with the blame game. The fact is that animal agriculture is responsible for more greenhouse gases than all the world’s transportation systems combined. My contribution has been the vegetarianism. I stopped eating red meat, poultry and fish in February 2017. I’m not vegan, I still eat eggs and dairy. I’m an ovo-lacto vegetarian. But stopping meat was my biggest contribution so far. I also recycle every week and try to use energy-saving light bulbs whenever I can. I know this is not enough but it’s a starting point. I plan to learn and contribute much more this year.

Improve My Guitar Skills

I bought last year a Yamaha Acoustic guitar. I wanted to pick up this habit from my childhood again. I played for a bit this year but not as much as I’d like to yet. This one is certainly working progress!

Meditate 15 Minutes A Day For 30 Days

I wanted 2020 to be my mindfulness year. I tried for so many years to meditate and failed every single time. I’m so happy I’m currently on a 88-day-streak with meditation. I’ve done 22 hours of mindful minutes. Originally, I wanted to do it just for 30 days as a challenge but I got so excited and found so much value that I decided to continue. Perhaps I’ll write something when I reach 100 days.

Sugar Free for 30 days

I didn’t start this one yet. Yep I know! You might be thinking that everything has sugar and you’re probably right. I define it as less than 10% sugar every 100 grams. At least, that’s what I’d like to explore for a month at some point this year.

Vegan Food for 30 days

I didn’t start this one either. Because I’m an ovo-lacto vegetarian this “only” means to me to stop eggs and dairy for a month. It will certainly be an interesting one to explore this year.
