This is HYDE PARK !? Unbelievable Royal LONDON
What do you think people in London do when the weather is super nice? They take advantage of these massive green areas. There’s one particular place that they love. Welcome to Hyde Park & Kensington Gardens.
Hyde Park is perhaps the most famous park in London and the largest of the royal parks in central London. It’s pretty clear why it’s at the top of most London itineraries.
Before I forget, this is the video in case you prefer to watch a more complete version:
PART I: COFFEE
You know me already and I love coffee. I don’t drink coffee at home as I prefer my Argentinian Mate. Actually I’ve made a full video explaining everything I learned about it. You can check it here.
So we grabbed a coffee at Hjem Kensington, absolutely marvellous atmosphere and obviously coffee taste! It’s a Danish place actually but the blend is fantastic, the decor is very peaceful and they have a lot of organic food. There was a distinctly Danish vibe to the rye bread sandwiches with avocado and some of the pastries as well.
Right after this, we were ready to walk to Kensington Gardens and kick off the adventure.
PART II: SPEAKERS’ CORNER
Speakers’ Corner is a traditional site for public speeches and debates since the mid 1800’s when protests and demonstrations took place in Hyde Park. It’s near Marble Arch and Oxford Street.
Well known people such as Marx, Lenin and George Orwell were known to often use the area to demonstrate free speech.
So every Sunday morning, it’s not unusual to find crowds gathering at Speakers’ Corner to listen to people speaking. There’s no need to book anything, you can just show up and speak about anything as long as you keep it respectful and lawful.
PART III: HORSE RIDING
One of the things I also mentioned during the video is that Hyde Park Stables offer adults and children semi-private and private horse rides, horse riding lessons and arena lessons, all year round in Hyde Park London.
The starting prices are £115 per person per hour from Monday to Sunday for a semi-private lesson. But if you want a private one then £145 is the starting point. All details are here.
So up to you, if you want to be posh, Hyde Park is an option. Otherwise, there’s a lot of cheaper options outside London and perhaps more suitable for the long term if money is an issue.
