I spend 3-4 months/year abroad and I’ve been asked many times what sort of gear I take with me to capture moments. This is the travel bag I use with my essential gear.

First of all, just to clarify I also have a small carry-on (not included in this post) for my drone, clothes and other essentials. That’s all I ever take to be honest. I rarely drop luggage unless long haul.

Before I forget, I’ve also made a video about what’s in my travel bag in case you want to check in 60 seconds:

1. Backpack

This is the Peak Design Everyday 30 litres. A pack that adapts to my ever-changing gear, lifestyle and environment. I use the Everyday Backpack that gives me accessibility, expandability, and organisation.

Endlessly configurable FlexFold dividers keep my travel gear organised, protected, and not bunched at the bottom of my bag. Internally padded accessory pockets keep small items in check.

Moreover, I really like the dedicated sleeve for my 13″ MacBook Pro (but up to 15% really), tablet, and any other documents.

Ultra clean aesthetic, all-custom hardware, minimal dangling straps. Weatherproof 400D nylon canvas shell.

2. Variable ND Filter & Step-Up Ring

A variable ND (neutral density) filter controls the amount of light that enters the camera. They have 2 circular, polarising layers of glass that are placed in opposition to each other. The inner is fixed and the outer is the one to rotate to control the stops.

This filter is ideal when shooting outdoors when it’s sunny and I want to control the amount of light entering my camera.

The Step-Up Ring is just to fit my favourite lens so I don’t need to buy many different VND filters and I can just buy one and have multiple step-up rings to fit different lenses.

3. Lacie SSD

This is a solid-state drive for fast editing, backups, and transfers with full-throttle speeds of up to 540 MB/s. I can store high-res source files, images, and video. It’s also reliable and good enough when I travel. I have the 2TB version.

4. Airpods Pro

Great active noise cancellation for immersive sound. Sweat and water resistant and super easy to pair with any other Apple devices.

5. Kindle

I love reading when I travel but I’m also cautious of space. So e-Books is a great guy to save space, highlight notes and a green choice.
