It looks like a trivial recipe but It’s not. I remind myself every single day to stay focus. Easier said than done. However, there’s good news. Let’s talk about it.

This is about repetition till we get somewhere close to the habit. But in order to repeat we need some techniques. In fact, I’ll share the 5 things I’ve been practicing for long time and positively helped me with my studies and work.

My Routine

  1. Clean desk
  2. Clean environment
  3. Clean mind
  4. Clean body
  5. Clean objective

Clean desk

I have a sit-standing desk with an ergonomic chair, a plant, my laptop, a big monitor, a desk lamp and a small diffuser. Less than 10 articles in total. That’s all I need for my workspace. Clutter-free.

Clean environment

My workspace which I called studio is in a separate area at home. No distractions. Away from the kitchen, from the TV, from the entrance and from anything that can distract me.

Clean mind

Piano playlist in low volume and if possible, few minutes of meditation. I do 15 minutes of meditation every day but sometimes before starting my working day I try at least 2 minutes of breathing techniques to prepare my mind.

Clean body

At some point during the day I enjoy a 20-minute-workout at home. No equipment, no gym. My preference is High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT). This gives me a lot of energy and makes me happy.

Clean objective

Before I even start working, I make sure I have the plan for the day and stick to it. Of course, there’s a lot happening that can deviate from the plan but I try to make a realistic plan and I’m happy when my to-do is completed.

These are 5 simple things in theory but need a lot of repetition so it becomes natural. I won’t lie. I have tough days where I struggle to focus and that’s alright because I’m a human like you and everyone else. No reason to lose motivation. In fact, it’s a good opportunity to learn and stay back on track.
